Dr. M. Reza Rohani is a general surgeon and hepatobiliary and surgical oncologist specializing in benign and malignant gastrointestinal as well as hepatobiliary disease. He takes on predominantly oncology, advanced laparoscopy, and robotic procedures as well as advanced hernia, complex liver and pancreatic resections, upper GI and colectomy, and general surgery cases. He completed medical school at Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iran.
Dr. Rohani then went on to Ohio State University for his general surgery residency and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) for his hepatobiliary and multi-organ transplant fellowship. He became a fellow of the American Board of Surgery and American College of Surgeons. He established his private practice in the South Bay Area, where he has been since 2009. He is currently affiliated with Good Samaritan Hospital and O’Connor Hospital, El Camino Hospitals in Mountain View and Los Gatos, and Regional Medical Center of San Jose. He is the Chief of the Department of Surgery at El Camino Hospital Los Gatos and the only hepatobiliary surgeon at the San Jose Liver Tumor Board.
With his ever decreasing free time, Dr. Rohani loves nature, planting flowers in his garden, hiking, reading Persian poetry, and spending time with his wife and three kids. He shares his office with his wife, a primary care physician. As a general surgeon, it is Dr. Rohani’s goal to do more than just perform surgery. He believes in providing patients with the very best options for healthy living.
