Dr. Marc Zaré is a practicing surgeon specializing in minimally invasive surgery. He studied medicine at Kasturba Medical College Manipal in Manipal, India before moving to Georgetown University for his residency in general surgery. It was there that Dr. Zaré found his passion for laparoscopic skills to perform minimally invasive surgeries. In 2001, Dr. Zaré was awarded the “Outstanding Resident in Laparoscopy” award and in 2002, the “String of Pearl” award nomination for his dedication to teaching. Afterward, Dr. Zaré received two years of additional training in advanced laparoscopic surgery at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He then taught as Assistant Professor of Surgery at Boston University while serving as the Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery and Surgical Simulation at the Boston VA Healthcare System.
With a mission to provide each of his patients with compassionate care based on science, Dr. Zaré provides surgical solutions that are innovative, non-invasive, and patient-centered. He strives for his patients to leave with unique and meaningful surgical experiences. Dr. Zaré and his practice have received numerous awards, such as Vital’s “Patient Choice Award” for excellence in critical care due to patients’ reviews.
Today, Dr. Zaré is actively involved in the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He has written several articles for Annals of Surgery and the Journal of the American College of Surgeons on surgery for severe obesity, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and other important surgical topics. Dr. Zaré has spoken at over 50 national and local surgical meetings and written 3 book chapters, constantly sharing his knowledge and experience for the greater good.
