Dr. Seema Sangwan is an internal medicine physician who has delivered high quality medical care to her patients for over 20 years. She studied medicine at the Maharshi Dayanand University Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Rohtak, India. She then went to University Hospital at SUNY , Stony Brook, NY for her residency training before practicing at the Peninsula Hospital in Burlingame, CA. There, she acted as the Director of the Hospitalist Program and served on the hospital’s Executive Committee.
After heading back to Stony Brook to practice for two years, Dr. Sangwan returned to the Bay Area to practice at Cisco’s LifeConnections Health Center. There, she led the telemedicine program which was featured in the PBS documentary Digital Doctors. Today, Dr. Sangwan has a concierge practice in San Mateo and also founded Apollo Health Care Center in Sunnyvale. She supports Hindi-, Urdu-, Punjabi-, and English-speaking patients.
Her mission is to establish meaningful connections with her patients and provide them with high-quality, individualized care. To Dr. Sangwan, the time and energy to build such trusting relationships is the most important, as she treats each and every one of her patients as a unique individual. “We have to take into account what their belief system is, what culture they come from, what they feel about their health and how they want to approach it,” she says. “You peek into their lives and you see what goes on…you learn from every single person you see, every single patient that belongs to you. And you teach at the same time. So it’s such a rewarding process.”
