As founder and director of the award winning, accredited Cancer Center at El Camino Hospital, Dr. Shyamali Singhal has played a key role in assembling its team of highly skilled cancer experts and its success.

Dr. Singhal is committed to seeing patients within 48 hours and being readily available to them throughout their care. She appreciates working in an environment that is soothing and comfortable to her patients, with a warm and welcoming staff to ease people’s stress. Dr. Singhal believes that using the latest treatments and technologies and combining those with compassionate, empathetic cancer care has enabled El Camino Hospital to far exceed national averages in curing patients or extending their lives.

As a surgeon with deep experience in adjuvant chemotherapy and immunotherapy, Dr. Singhal is one of the rare doctors that knows precisely which decisions to make under any given surgical situation. Under Dr. Singhal’s leadership, the Cancer Center at El Camino Hospital now admits over 2,000 new patients a year with twenty-five percent of patients commuting from outside Silicon Valley and staying at the center for every phase of care.

In addition to her work as Executive Director of the Cancer Center at El Camino Hospital, Dr. Singhal graduated from John Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, where she received her M.D. as well as her PhD. in Molecular Pharmacology. After completing her surgical residency at the University of Washington, she finished a post-residency fellowship in surgical oncology at the City of Hope National Cancer Center in Duarte (Los Angeles), California.
